Don't wait any longer...make the switch to Harvard University Employees Credit Union today! If the only reason
you haven't opened a Harvard University Employees Credit Union checking account is because it's a hassle to
close your old checking account, we can help. Our simple, hassle-free switch kit is designed to make switching
checking accounts easy and convenient.
Making the switch - 5 simple steps
- Open your new account - Visit one of our branches to complete an account application. Existing members may apply by calling our contact center 617-495-4460
- Stop using your old account - And let all your checks clear. This could take up to 10 days. Once all your
outstanding checks have cleared, destroy any unused checks, ATM and debit cards and deposit slips.
- Fill out the enclosed Direct Deposit Notification form and give it to your
employer, the Social Security Administration or your retirement plan. You can make copies of this form as needed.
Include a voided check from your new account to verify account information.
- Use the enclosed Automatic Withdrawal Notification form to change all automatic
withdrawals or automated payment services. Don't forget automatic payments made online. You can make copies of
this form as needed.
- Submit the enclosed Close Account form to us and we will take care of closing your
old account. No face-to-face meeting needed. If there is a balance in your account after all of your checks have
cleared, the financial institution will send us a check for the amount and we will deposit it in your new account.
